AUSTELL, GA. – August, 2018 – For the third consecutive year, KAR Auction Services, a global vehicle remarketing and technology solutions provider, contributed a philanthropic investment toward the small business and independent auto dealer industry.
Five divisions of KAR (ADESA, AFC, Autoniq, IAA and TradeRev) participated as sponsors at the 2018 GIADA Convention & Expo, funding a $4,000 scholarship as part of the GIADA Scholarship Program. The program assists children, stepchildren and grandchildren of GIADA members, whether business owners, officers or employees, who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered annually for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. The program, founded in 2015, received a record of 38 applications in 2018. ADESA, AFC and IAA have been regular sponsors of the scholarship.
“It’s great to see companies step up without hesitation to provide support for our community,” said Amy Bennett, Executive Director of GIADA.
Scholarship America selected Sarah Sargent, recent summa cum laude graduate of White County High School, as the recipient for the 2018 award sponsored by KAR. She was actively involved in FFA, FBLA, FCA, National Honor Society and Beta Club in high school. Sarah plans to attend Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, to major in Health Science and prepare for graduate studies in Pediatric Physical Therapy.
“Our primary goal was to support independent dealers by helping their families attend school,” said Mark Brunn, general manager of ADESA Atlanta. “We gave back to dealers so their families could succeed and have the tools necessary to compete in today’s business world.
“KAR has several businesses that help dealers, including ADESA, IAA, AFC, TradeRev and Autoniq,” Brunn continued. “Whether they’re buying or selling, independent dealers are the lifeblood of our business. GIADA is an integral partner to KAR because they help dealers with their needs through education and training.”
